Handling Multiple Time Calendars in a Many-to-Many SSAS Scenario

Posted by Elon B. on March 17, 2010

Typically when designing a time dimension, in SSAS, we would handle multiple calendars e.g. Calendar Year and Fiscal Year, by adding additional columns to the date dimension table that holds rows for each date needed.

What if you needed to support more than two types of Calendars, with no limit, so new calendars can be added in the future.

I was on a project, where they had multiple clients, potentially each with there own reporting calendar. The standard method of resolving this would not work and is inflexible.

Well, I came across the following blog article that describes how you can resolve this quite easily.

Part One is here and Part two is here.
